Melissa McCarthy is a writer, motivational speaker and the creator of the blog, Lose Weight Now. She also has a series of books on her website. One book in particular, called No Happy Holiday, has been downloaded by millions of users. Her weight loss journey began at the age of twenty-one when she tried and failed with diet and exercise programs. She tried everything from laxatives to crash diets to "miracle foods" but was unsuccessful.
Eventually, Melissa turned to alternative methods of weight loss such as acupuncture and acupressure. Her diet plan was not going as planned, and she knew something was wrong. She did some research and learned about the Gilmore girls. Melissa's doctor recommended they give her weight loss surgery.
Melissa knew there was no way she was getting through her next semester and her graduation without giving up her ambition to run a marathon. So she went ahead with the surgery. Her doctor told her that if she kept up with her plan to gain back the extra energy she had lost, she would be able to do a marathon within twelve to sixteen months. The doctor added that it would be possible to speed up her weight gain at the same time.
Melissa's weight gain was slowed down drastically when she started taking the right supplements and eating the right things. She was doing a little better each month, but she still had some great times in the spring and summer. She kept a journal to document the progress. When she talked about her experience at the picnic table with her friends, everyone was so impressed with her determination to get healthy and keep her weight gain under control.
